What To Write Love on Her Arms does

To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA) is a nonprofit based in Melbourne, Florida. It works to offer hope and find help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. It began with a story Jamie Tworkowski wrote in February 2006 about the days he spent with Renee Yohe before she entered a treatment center. He posted it on MySpace and sold T-shirts to help cover her treatment costs. Tworkowski founded the organization in March 2006.

TWLOHA's reach is mostly online. It says its content reaches about 103.9 million people a year, and its FIND HELP tool has been searched 217,000 times. It also runs peer support groups, a mental health toolkit and a Hopeful app. And it pays for care directly: through programs including its Therapy Scholarship Program, TWLOHA reports $4.7 million invested in treatment and recovery and 35,000 hours of therapy funded.
